It’s been about five months now that I’ve showered in the dark…
I can’t express much joy at the moment. I’ve just signed on for another six months at my present teaching gig. The money’s okay and this is Seoul, so I’m not without spectacle. One close friend has now shacked up in China, but another has just arrived, so again, not a problem on that front. I’ve got hobbies to keep me busy, as well as a vague sense of ambition. I’m not unhappy, but - joyless.
Where is that vibrant hierarchy of high values that sustained me with such fortitude? I wasn’t prepared for the absence of struggle, nor this confrontation with dull security.
At least I’ve light in the toilet, which is more than many. So - here’s to fewer shaving cuts.
I’m off for a short cycling trip on Ulleung Island, 150 kms off the East coast of Korea. It looks beautiful.

Think I’m taking a bike tour of Korea in July. Excitement!
Update: All fixed up. I got really greasy fixing it (”fixing it” = putting the inflated tire back on). I also stocked up on maintenance stuff for the next inevitable Seoul flat tire.
